Apparently, today is
Talk Like a Pirate Day
I hate Talk Like a Pirate Day
Normal thinking people wouldn't take one day a year and pretend to speak French, or Pig Latin, or with a German accent - who thought that pretending to speak like a pirate would be a good idea?
I believe that nothing signifies the inevitable decline of our culture more than this. I can't even stand to get on
Pownce or any of my regular message boards without being barraged by mateys and Yarrrs and such.
A big thanks to the fine folks at
Drupal for having the good taste to not utilize the Pirate Speak Module - I surely would have been pushed over the edge otherwise.
Good thing this only happens once a year.

I was going to try to find a good image of a pirate or something related but then I thought that was giving much more time to this than I wanted.
I'm more of a bah humbugger to halloween. Wait for that one. I'm just letting everyone get worked up for a while.
Mercifully, all of the pirate speak I was subjected too was nonverbal - if I had to actually listen to any of this, who knows what would have happened.
Halloween to me is usually just an excuse to tell the world's greatest story - but now I'm curious to hear your account. At least you aren't teasing this too early.

From whence came this stereotype that all pirates come from Bristol?
ps. it's great to know I'm not the only one that thinks this whole talk like a pirate thing is complete and utter nonsense
