This Side Down?

Despite the nightmare that is standing in the aisles at Target trying to choose one, Gina and I got a new coffee pot a couple of days ago.

While unboxing and assembling it I found that it included a water filter (pictured to the right). I tried placing it above the filter basket in various configurations but it just wouldn't seat properly.

Only when I flipped it over did I see the instructions "this side up".

What good does it do to put "this side up" on one side if you don't also put "this side down" on the other?

Business Lessons I Learned From My New Coffee Pot
A couple of days ago I posted about our new coffee pot and how the design seemed to be a little lacking. Now that we have been using it for a few more days, there are some additional annoyances: The filters are the basket type rather than the cone type

When are manufacturers going to start doing more usability testing with their products? This kind of stuff just chaps my hide. Geeze, I can develop a complex web system but can't use a coffee maker or other appliance, you name it. No, I think it's the goofy manufacturers not taking this stuff into consideration.

That is a good point, it sure doesn't fit in the basket securly.

Is it a Mr. Coffee? That's what I have, and they included the same water filter. I didn't notice a taste difference, so I stopped using it.

We probably shouldn't let Phil see this post.

It is a Mr Coffee. We probably won't replace the filter once this one is done but figured we would use it since they included it.

I have actually learned a lot from this whole coffee maker experience - look for another post about it later today.
