Today is the first day of National Blog Posting Month which means that each day in November I am going to share something with you that I am thankful for. Some are very important and some are sort of silly, but they are all part of what makes up my life and for them I am grateful.
I have a list of topics made up and a schedule already created for the month. Today I was planning on starting with a discussion about how thankful I am for self expression and the ability to communicate.
But I had a tough time getting up this morning. I turned on the light around 6am foolishly thinking that would be sufficient to awaken me and force me to start my day. At 8am I finally struggled to stay awake long enough to roll my way out of bed.
So a change of topic is in order...
Today I want to discuss Saturday mornings and how thankful I am for the lazy ones - the ones where we can sleep in as long as we want or need to.
We make no plans and set no alarms. We answer no phones or knocks on doors. There are no children to wake us up, just our cats and we certainly don't have to twist their paws to get them to sleep in.
Now I know I should be up and about. The treadmill mocks me from the spare room, the lawn grows tall, and the book I want to read is still unopened next to the couch.
But I feel absolutely no guilt. A lazy Saturday morning is a rejuvenating and cleansing experience for both body and soul. It is so nice to be free of the time constraints and other obligations that we carry through the week, if even for just a couple of hours.
And if we can carry it over to Sunday - all the better!!

And you have a schedule for what you're going to write? Totally my alter ego. The second I make a schedule or list, it changes.
God forbid that I schedule time to lay in bed and escape from the world.
As for how well it is working for me, it is the first day and I have already strayed from it... Tomorrow is supposed to be about Guilty Pleasures, we'll see if that sticks.
And Saturday I am likely to give up entirely - you know being lazy and all.
