And NaBloPoMo continues...
Today I was reminded of how wondrous it is when I get so engrossed in work and music that my productivity and creativity soars.
I've mentioned before how I always have music playing when I am working but today I was straightening up my desk and noticed my headphones sitting neglected...

My headphones are The
Shure E3c's like the ones pictured. I got them a while back (along with $35) for doing some market research for Shure. I guess when I registered my old E2c's they got me on their list.
The great thing about these headphones is that they are sound isolating. I really can't hear anything when I am wearing them. Unlike the Bose noise canceling ones, they do this without introducing any white noise - it is really the fit of the phones that are responsible for this.
But it isn't really the headphones that I am thankful for - it is the isolation that they bring. I've always been a big fan of the sonic qualities and intimacy of music that is exposed by a good set of phones (I was going to call them cans like we did in the radio biz but I thought that might be misinterpreted..).
So when I saw my headphones sitting there, I realized that I really haven't been putting them to good use so plugged them in and got to work.
I don't really need sound isolating phones at work. My office is woefully abandoned really, there is very little traffic through the hallways and people are generally quiet. But when I got those headphones on and the music playing, I got a little lost.
So today's item for which I am thankful is headphone induced productivity enhancing isolation. I highly recommend it.

On a related note, one thing for which I am not thankful is whatever I did to break my trusty BlogDesk software. It is amazing how unproductive I am trying to write my last couple of entries with the web based editor. Yucky.
I'd been thinking about joining this project when I first saw Snoskred's blog but its a commitment I couldn't keep
I am actually thinking it was my installing Live Writer that broke Blog Desk. It came out of beta and looked impressive so thought I would give it a shot. Now neither of them work.
I guess that is what I get for being unfaithful. If I manage to fix it I will stray no more...
Don't worry Gina - I've learned my lesson
