Fall is probably my favorite season. The weather cools so I can wear my slippers and drink hot cocoa, but I don't have to deal with snow.
And while I am not a fan of yard work, and despise the leaves once they hit the ground, there really isn't anything like autumn and the brilliant colors the leaves take on.
And while Illinois has no mountains, we have no shortage of trees. Right in our front yard is a rather boring and unassuming tree that for about a week each year becomes a fiery red and yellow - quite amazing really.
I love to drive around the neighborhoods and see the greens, yellows, browns and reds. The forest preserves are brilliant and beautiful.
There are probably many ways to wrap all of this into something meaningful, how you have to enjoy the colors for the brief time that they are here and not take them for granted. Or how something that is plain can turn into something beautiful under the right circumstances - and I guess that is all true.
But really - I think I just like the pretty colors.

Gina and I were just talking about the difference between the fall in Colorado and here. The big difference is that in Colorado they have the aspen trees and while they are beautiful, they are all just gold. To me it is the variation and abundance of the differing colors that makes me enjoy it so much.
