On NaBloPoMo 2008

This time last year Gina and I decided to participate in National Blog Posting Month. We both wrote about things for which we were thankful, she was able to carry on that theme while I was not.

I wasn't planning on participating again this year. With business and the writing I do for WWD, there isn't a whole lot of time left for My Thermos. I also was struggling with a theme for this year. But I was reminded of a couple of things this morning by my buddy Gregg over at Ton-Fifty-One

"November is kinda special, though. During the last challenge, I happened upon a handful of killer blogs of which I'm now a regular reader. And I also wrote something. Every day. For a month. Those two reasons alone made the month a ridiculous success."

It reminded me of my own sense of accomplishment for completing the challenge as well as the great blogs I also found during the process - including Gregg's.

So it was rather serendipitous that I read Gregg's post today as it gave me the push I needed to give it a go again this year, as well as providing me with a theme for the month.

So the theme for NaBlahBlah '08 is My Favorite Blogs. I figure that each day I will direct you to one of my favorite sites on these ol' interwebs and it seems appropriate to feature none other than the aforementioned Ton-Fifty-One.

The first post I read by Gregg was his hilarious take on Another Tale of New and Improved and I've been hooked ever since. The writing is thoughtful, clever, and often humorous. He also happens to be a big fan of similar books and music and being a big Counting Crows fan doesn't hurt either. And he also puts a great quote at the end of each post.

I'm going to direct you to his own explanation of the title as I'm not much of a dart player and my eyes start to glaze over - I mean it makes sense and I like it, but, well, I don't really understand it.

He doesn't write often enough but I thoroughly enjoy when he does.

Thanks Gregg - am now 2 down and a whole boatload more to go. Gina is in as well so that will help keep me motivated.

Hey Scott! Good for you. I remember having quite a bit of fun last November until I pooped out at the end. I've never gotten the hang of posting ahead for busy times, and Thanksgiving responsibilities took over. I'll look forward to checking in and see how you're doing.

Last year I couldn't keep up with the chosen theme so this year I went with something not quite so adventurous. I figure I can get away with throwing something together quickly if needed.

Wish me luck - I'm going to need it.
