Building A Thermos
I'm not a handy guy when it comes to building or making things. I can hang a picture or (maybe) a shelf but I would never think to make my own cabinetry or anything. I can see the appeal of it though, having something that you created from nothing.
So yeah, bookshelves or a table or clock - all things I can see taking the time to make for yourself. They add personality to your home and can be passed on generation to generation.
But some things I just can't understand - like making or building your own thermos. I know, it sounds silly to you too right? I mean, it's a thermos. You pick them up at Target for a few bucks and use them until you accidentally drop them getting out of the car or knock them off the shelf when grabbing your lunch box. They're cheap and they're disposable - right?
I used to think so but recent events have led me to think there must be more to it.... Continue reading "Building A Thermos" »

Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
I'm not really much of a U2 fan but this is really the only title I could come up with that was even remotely creative for today's topic.
I run the Clicky Web Stats program for tracking traffic visits to My Thermos. It is a really great solution for small sites and blogs. It provides all the standard stuff like page views, browser stats, referrers, and such.
One of the most interesting things for me to look at though is the keyword search reporting - or what people are searching for that brings them here.

I've written previously about how the majority of searches are actually for "Thermos" and variations of same - a whopping 62% for the last month for example. I hate to see this really as I know these people are not finding what they are looking for but I guess I hope that there is something here for everyone.
Some of the variations of Thermos are sort of funny though - and some of the other off the wall sort of things that people are looking for can provide a bit of amusement as well.
So here are some of the odd search terms that have led people here:
thermos song (I'm picking out a thermos for you.. from The Jerk is the only one I can think of)
jokes about lazyness
see through thermos - (this would be cool, I would buy one of these)
how to make me a thermos (why would anyone want to make their own thermos)
really warm slippers
the cheapest thermos in the world (how much could even an expensive thermos cost)
thermos recommended usage (don't they come with directions?)
jango -fett -mail +radio - (good use of search operators)
fee waybill (this is actually much more common that I would have thought)
spiffy thermos (aren't they all)
bad motor scooter (I love that people are actually seeking this out)
adam 12 thermos (and horrified that someone is looking for this)
coffee thermos of the future (ooh science fiction - I wonder if it has to do with coffee pods)
funny monkey games (I am not even sure what to say about this one)
how does a thermos involve ethics (I wonder if they ever found the answer to this one)
how much is my thermos worth (hmm, collectible thermos - I should become an appraiser and get some real traffic to this site)
mac thermos (I registered ithermos.com just in case)
How did you find My Thermos or what search terms have produced odd results on your sites?
